Beautiful Pair of Art Deco Pressed Glass Cake Stands

I love pressed glass cake stands, they are just so glamorous! I was so lucky to find these two large ones which make a lovely pair. They would make a wonderful table centrepiece, wouldn't they? They have a cross and ripple effect pressed into the underside - making them lovely and sparkly.
They date from c1930 and have a nice large, flat platform to take a good sized cake,  pretty wavy edges and a good sturdy base. So versatile - you can pile them up with fruit, big cakes, little cakes, or nibbles for a party! But no matter what you use them for, you will create a lovely vintage feel to your event.

There is a small difference between the two stands - and that is the base. One has a gently wavy edge to its base, and one has straight edges.

Groovy Vintage Hexagon Patchwork Bedspread

This comes straight from the age of flower power! The bedspread has a lovely selection of fabrics from the 60s and early 70s - mostly cotton, but also a with some cotton mixes. It is beautifully handsewn and backed with a pale peach cotton.
It is enormous - I have displayed it here on my king size bed and it hangs over each side - I guess it would hang close to the floor on a normal double.
Each hexagon has been hand sewn together in a lovely bright floral effect pattern which stands out against the darker background. It's rather reminiscent of Mary Quant.
Above is the centre of the bedspread.
And here are a few close ups to show the lovely bright vintage fabrics.
And below is the full effect.
Isn't it fabulous - a truly unique vintage item.

Condition: There are no holes, rips or loose seams - the bedspread is generally in good condition. There are just a couple of minor flaws - two of the hexagon flowers (redish shades) have a small amount of colour run from the dark background, which are not really noticeable except on close inspection. There is a thin  line of colour run along one edge of the backing - for approx. 6 inches.

Dimensions: 93.5 inches x 86 inches or 237cm x 219cm

£175
Postage by DHL to most UK addresses would be £15 - for overseas or non mainland addresses, please email me for a quote.

It can also be collected from my shop in Farnham.

Painted and Decoupaged Oak Bureau

1930s Oak Writing Bureau with Bun Feet
This characterful piece of furniture is painted in Farrow and Ball's eco friendly eggshell using the colours "Bone" and "Pointing" - nice neutral colours which should fit with most colour schemes. It has a lightly distressed finish which gives it an easy to live with appearance.
The writing surface and the central cubby holes are decoupaged with a Cath Kidston design.

The surface of the decoupage is sealed with several coats of PVA, so can be wiped, but I would not recommend scrubbing. For a bomb-proof finish you could brush on a few coats of clear varnish.
This is such a functional piece of furniture as it has masses of storage in the drawers, plus the really useful desk part which is great for laptop use. So if you are tight on space, this piece can double up as a chest of drawers AND a desk - how great is that? (Little Thing 2 has a similar bureau in her bedroom, and loves it.)
When you pull down the desk front, the little brackets automatically come out to support the top (this is part of the mechanism of the hinges). This all works nicely, giving a good stable surface for working on.
I have a key which fits in the keyhole and can be used to pull the desk front down, but it is not the original key, so does not lock.

Size of bureau with the desk flap closed: Height 101cm; Width 77cm; Depth 40cm
Size of the desk flap 72cm by 31cm
